Graphic design studio Trapped in Suburbia was asked to come up with a visual identity for the “Love Life Festival”. This festival takes place during Dutch Aids Week to promote safe sex. Interactive Objects supplied the electronics and LED displays that were used to indicate the number of HIV infections world-wide and the number of people that received treatment in The Netherlands.

The object had to be moved between 3 locations, so we made use of non-volatile memory to enable the electronics to keep counting where it left off before the power was cut. The update frequency was based on a guestimate that was provided by the Dutch Aids Foundation. The top counter had to be increased every 5 seconds, the lower counter had to be increased 5 times a day.
